Must Do! – Dippy the Dinosaur Returns
This Summer Dippy, the nation's favourite dinosaur, is back for a short visit. Dippy was the first Diplodocus (DIP-low-DOCK-us) to go on display anywhere in the world when it was gifted to the Museum in 1905. It quickly became a star, capturing hearts and imaginations.
Dippy then left the Museum in 2017 to complete a whirlwind tour of the UK. Throughout the journey, Dippy witnessed the changing state of nature and how the UK's biodiversity is in sharp decline. Dippy's tour also gave us a much-needed reminder of the joy we can find in our local landscapes - from embracing the quiet of a woodland to noticing birdsong in a busy park.

Behind the Scenes - Spirit Collection
Deep in the vaults of the Museum lie some of its best kept secrets - huge jars full of specimens collected by scientists throughout the last 300 years. Enter this "mad scientist's" laboratory of weird and wonderful creatures including Archie, a 8.62m giant squid, and others that are now extinct. There are 22 million specimens in the collection, some of which are so old that they were brought back by Charles Darwin from his voyage on the Beagle!
The team had loads of fun exploring this amazing collection when we went to the Museum, and we would encourage everyone to enjoy this truly unique experience.
